What We Do

Four simple programs that turn donated bikes into real opportunity for young people.

Bike Donation & Repair

People donate used bikes, BMX bikes, parts, helmets, and tools. Volunteers and youth fix them up together, then we give them to youth who need one.

After-School & Summer Rides

Supervised sessions during the school year and summer where youth learn safe riding, BMX basics, group riding, confidence, and fitness. Beginner-friendly and structured.

Youth Bike Mechanic Program

Hands-on skills: fixing flats, adjusting brakes, tuning gears, and safety checks. A first step toward trades, shop work, or volunteer leadership.

Community Cleanup Rides

Youth ride as a group to parks, trails, and skateparks and clean them up. Good for the neighbourhood β€” and a real sense of giving back.

How It Works

Three simple steps, from a bike in a garage to a young person riding forward.

  1. 1

    Bikes come in

Neighbours, schools, and bike shops donate bikes and parts they no longer use.

  2. 2

    Youth fix them up

With volunteer mentors, youth repair the bikes and learn how they work along the way.

  3. 3

    Youth ride forward

Bikes go to youth who need them. Riders join group rides, build skills, and give back.

Our Mission

To give youth in the Lower Mainland access to bicycles, bike repair education, safe riding programs, mentorship, and community service opportunities.

We collect, repair, and redistribute bicycles to young people while running after-school riding and mechanic programs. Youth learn to ride safely, maintain their own bikes, build confidence, join a positive community, and give back through local cleanup projects.

Ride Forward BC is being established as a non-profit society under the B.C. Societies Act.

What we believe

  • A bike opens doors. Freedom, fitness, and a way to get around.
  • Skills build futures. Fixing a bike teaches patience and pride.
  • Everyone belongs. All skill levels and backgrounds welcome.
  • Give back. Healthy riders who care for their community.

Our participation policy

Our regular youth programs are open to participants ages 10–17. Participants may be grouped by age, ability, and riding experience to ensure safety and appropriate instruction. Youth under 10 may participate only in designated family events with a parent or guardian present. All participants require parent/guardian consent, emergency contact information, and a signed program waiver.

Safety Comes First

Because our programs are for minors, safety is built into everything we do.
